Gunkan Salmon Roe recipe
Take a nori sheet. You should see some lines running across the sheet. Cut the nori exactly on that line. You’ll get some strips of nori of about 3 centimeters wide. You use 1 such strip of nori for 1 gunkan.
Make your hands a little wet, so the sushi rice doesn’t stick to your hands. Use the water and rice vinegar you made for this.
Take a small handful of your already prepared sushi rice and make it into a nice oval shape. Place it on your cutting board. With your index finger, spread a little bit of wasabi on the top of your rice.
Around the rice we are going to fold your nori sheet. We place the beautiful shiny side of the nori on the outside. We’ll use a grain of the rice we made to glue the end of the nori sheet together. Stick the grain of rice on the nori and place the end of the nori on top. Just press down and it will now stick. Voila, your “boat” is now made. Now it’s time to fill your gunkan with those delicious salmon eggs.

Now open a jar of salmon eggs. (With a spoon you place the eggs on the rice in your gunkan against the cucumber. The cucumber fan should of course remain visible as a beautiful decoration.
